Crockpot Chicken Cooking Tips
Crockpot cooking is a very forgiving method of cooking. It’s almost impossible to mess up a crockpot chicken recipe. There are some tips, however, that will help make your crockpot chickens recipes turn out excellently every time.
First of all, you should always fill the pot to the correct level. The pot should be 1/2 to 3/4 full. If you overfill your food will not cook enough. To empty and it will overcook. If your recipe calls for fresh vegetables they should added to the pot first. They will take longer to cook than the chickens.
Now that might not sound logical but try putting them on top once! An exception to the veggies first rule is tender vegetables such as tomatoes or peas.
You don’t want them to curdle. In addition to adding them last be sure your pot is on low. Pasta and rice should also be added toward the end of cooking time. 45 minutes or so should be about right so they cook through without losing texture.
If you have the time your crockpot chickens will benefit by browning the chickens first. This will give the chickens some color and add to the visual appeal at serving time.
